Where to stay in Madrid
Chueca, just north of Gran Vía, is the gay neighborhood, with bars packed around Plaza de Pedro Zerolo. Huertas (Barrio de las Letras), south of Sol, is a short walk away. Madrid Pride (MADO) takes over the center in early July: in 2026 the march was Saturday, July 4, from Atocha to Colón.
Spain made same-sex marriage legal in July 2005. The Metro runs from 6 am to 1:30 am every day, and some stations keep shorter hours, so plan another way home after a late night.

A design hotel right on Chueca's main square. The rooftop terrace has 360-degree views and a pool in the summer season, breakfast runs until noon, and dogs are welcome. Travel Gay describes it as being in the heart of the gay district, overlooking the plaza.

Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid
Calle Barquillo, Salesas (next to Chueca)
A boutique hotel in a 19th-century palace in Salesas, steps from Chueca, with interiors by designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. It has the YOUNIQUE restaurant, Padrino Cocktail Bar and a Thai Room wellness space. Travel Gay lists it as a stylish boutique hotel near the gay bars.

Axel Hotel Madrid
Calle Atocha, Barrio de las Letras (Huertas)
An adults-only Axel, from the chain that calls itself the first hotel chain for the LGBTQIA+ community. The guests-only Skybar has a rooftop pool (11 am to 9 pm), and the basement venue, Bala Perdida, puts on shows. Chueca is on the other side of Gran Vía.
