Where to stay in Barcelona
Gay Barcelona is the part of the Eixample nicknamed the Gaixample, around Carrer d'Aribau and Carrer del Consell de Cent, where the bars, clubs and gay hotels sit a few blocks apart. Circuit Festival fills the city every August (2026 ran August 1–9), and Sitges is down the coast.
Spain made same-sex marriage legal in July 2005. The UK government's travel advice for Spain warns that thieves use distraction techniques and often work in teams, so keep your phone and wallet close in crowds and on the metro.

Axel Hotel Barcelona

The first Axel, opened in 2003 as, in the hotel's words, an urban hotel created by and for gays. It's an adults-only, 101-room 19th-century building with a rooftop pool and bar, a spa and gym, the Nikkei 103 restaurant and Groundbar, open nightly with DJs and drag.

Axel TWO Barcelona
Carrer de Calàbria, Eixample
Axel's second Barcelona hotel: 87 adults-only rooms west of the Gaixample, with its own car park. The rooftop Skybar has a pool, jacuzzi and solarium (weekend afternoons, summer only), and the wellness club adds a sauna, a pool and a pink gym.

Hotel Cram
Carrer d'Aribau, Eixample
A design hotel a couple of blocks up Aribau from the Axel, with a rooftop pool and Angle, a Michelin-starred restaurant led by chef Jordi Cruz. Some rooms have private terraces. Nomadic Boys' 2026 list of gay hotels in Barcelona includes it as a pick for couples.
