Where to stay in Amsterdam
Amsterdam's gay bars are spread across a few walkable pockets: Reguliersdwarsstraat and Kerkstraat near Leidseplein, Zeedijk and Warmoesstraat in the old center, and the Homomonument at Westermarkt. Late spring through summer is the nicest time to visit, and Pride's canal parade in early August is the busiest week of the year.
Amistad Hotel
Canal Ring (Kerkstraat 42, near Leidseplein)
A long-running nine-room hotel on Kerkstraat, a short walk from the Reguliersdwarsstraat bars. It used to call itself the 'Gay Friendly Hotel' and now welcomes everyone. Breakfast is included and served at one shared table until noon, which makes it easy to meet other guests. There's no lift, and the stairs are steep.
