A bar is great for a night out, but it's hard to get past small talk over loud music. A run club, a chorus or a game night gives you something to do together and the same faces every week, so by the third visit people know your name. Here are 155 LGBTQ+ clubs, leagues and regular nights in 21 cities, each with the month we last checked it was still running.
1st Thursday of the month, 7–9pm (other gyms on other nights) Monthly
Next: Thu, Nov 5
Bouldering Project, 1433 West River Rd N, Minneapolis
OutClimb makes climbing easier to get into for trans and queer people: free, beginner-friendly meetups at most Twin Cities gyms, plus outdoor trips and mentoring. The Minneapolis Bouldering Project meetup is on the first Thursday, and other gyms host on other nights, so check the calendar. First-timers get a free day pass there; after that it's $12 plus tax, shoes included.
LUSH Lounge & Theater, 990 Central Ave NE (Northeast)
Weekly drag bingo with a different artist or genre as the theme each week, and proceeds go to the Aliveness Project. Reserve a seat online. There's a Saturday afternoon bingo too.
Rehearsals Tuesdays 7–9:30pm; next audition Dec 8 2026
Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Ave (Loring Park)
One of the country's biggest gay men's choruses, with more than 160 voices on stage at Orchestra Hall. Singers rehearse every Tuesday and join through auditions a few times a year. Or just go: Slay Bells Ring is at Orchestra Hall on Nov 22.
Tuesdays 6:30–8:30pm; Thursdays 6:30–8:30pm (outdoor season Apr–Oct; fitness sessions in winter)
Lions Park, 151 Louisiana Ave N (Golden Valley)
A rugby club started to get more gay and bi men and trans people playing, open to anyone of any age, gender or sexuality. No experience needed: come to any practice, and the coaches will help you sort out gear.
Sundays 6:30–10pm (lessons from 6:30, two-step at 7, open dancing 7:30–10); plus a monthly Saturday Stampede
Eagles Club #34, 2507 E 25th St (Seward)
A country dance club for LGBTQ+ people and friends. Sundays start with lessons, including beginner two-step, and then the floor opens for social dancing. You don't need a partner or any experience, and cover is $8.
A twice-a-month Saturday game night at the Twin Cities' LGBTQ+ library. An easy way to meet people, and the library runs plenty of other clubs if you want a reason to come back.
Second Wednesday monthly, 7–8pm (summer meetings at Brackett Park) Monthly
Next: Wed, Nov 11
Quatrefoil Library, 1220 E Lake St (Longfellow)
A monthly queer book club with a new read each time. Meetings are an hour, which makes it an easy first club, and in summer the group moves outdoors to Brackett Park.
About one walk or hike a month, lately Sunday mornings; places vary
Around the metro (e.g. Lake Nokomis, Lebanon Hills in Eagan)
A big Meetup group (about 1,700 members) for queer people who like to walk and hike. Outings are a few miles at a relaxed pace, often with an optional lunch after, and a good way to see the lakes and parks.
Dreamers Vault Games, 1143 Larpenteur Ave W (Roseville)
A weekly open game afternoon for queer gamers at a Roseville game store. Bring a game or join one already going, from Ticket to Ride to Wingspan, and there are tables for drawing and hanging out too.
Schedules are as each group gives them: monthly groups meet once a month, twice-a-month ones in the weeks they name, and seasonal leagues only in season. Times change, so check the group's own site before you go. Something wrong, or a group we're missing? Post in Friends & Community. Nobody pays to be listed.
