Rehoboth Beach

A small beach town with bars a block from the boardwalk, Poodle Beach at the south end, and its own Pride in July.

Gay Rehoboth fits in a few blocks. Baltimore Avenue, a short walk from the boardwalk, has Aqua, the Blue Moon and the Pines, and CAMP Rehoboth's community center is in the middle of them. The Purple Parrot is around the corner on Rehoboth Avenue, and Diego's, the dance club, is a short drive out of town. On the sand, Poodle Beach is at the south end of the boardwalk. Summer is the busy season, but the bars, the center and the clinic are open in the fall too.

Poodle Beach, the town's gay beach, is at the foot of Queen Street (1103 S Boardwalk). There's nothing on the sand, so bring water and walk north for food and restrooms.

Out of town toward the highway, where Diego's has its dance floor and outdoor space. Drive or take a rideshare.

Aqua Bar & Grill

A bar and grill with a big deck that fills up after the beach, with DJs on summer weekends and acoustic sets on Mondays. It never charges a cover. It opens at 4pm on weekdays and noon on weekends; in past years it has closed for the winter after New Year's, so check before a winter trip.

Diego's Bar & Nightclub

The town's dance club, with a Sunday T-dance, a Saturday splash party and DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. It's closed on Mondays, opens at 5pm Tuesday to Thursday and 4pm Friday to Sunday, and stays open until 1am on weekends.

Blue Moon

A restaurant and bar in a restored Victorian house, a Rehoboth fixture for more than 40 years. Happy hour is 4 to 6, dinner starts at 5 and Sunday brunch runs 10 to 2. Come for dinner and a show rather than dancing.

The Pines

A restaurant with an upstairs Treehouse Lounge, open Friday and Saturday evenings: a DJ on Fridays and a piano show and sing-along on Saturdays at 7. A relaxed place for cocktails and showtunes. Hours change with the season, so call ahead.

Purple Parrot Grill

A casual pub and beer garden, open until 1am every day. Weekend brunch is 9 to noon, Sunday is pub night from 4 to 10 with the football on, and its posts announce the Bird Cage drag shows and karaoke nights. A good no-fuss stop at any hour.

    Beebe Healthcare's clinic inside the community center: PrEP, HIV and STI screening and treatment, and some vaccines. Open Monday and Friday 9 to noon and Wednesday 1 to 4, mostly by appointment, with some same-day slots. Book a first visit online through CAMP Rehoboth's site, or call (302) 260-7558.
  • Delaware Division of Public Health: Adams State Service Center 546 S Bedford St, Georgetown
    The state's STI services for the area, inland in Georgetown. Mon–Fri 8–4:30, with sliding-scale prices based on income and insurance. Call (302) 515-3000.

Community & leagues

  • CAMP Rehoboth: 37 Baltimore Ave, (302) 227-5620. The town's LGBTQ+ community center has a busy weekly calendar: yoga for men, a book club, support groups, a veterans group and social groups for young adults and for trans and nonbinary people. It also holds the free Block Party on Baltimore Avenue each October (2026's was Oct 18).
  • Sussex Pride: Runs Rehoboth Beach Pride each July, with a festival at the Convention Center (sussexpride.org).

Pride & big events

Rehoboth Beach Pride is July 15–18, 2027, with the festival on Saturday, July 17, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. In 2026 the festival was July 18 and the weekend ended with a closing party at Aqua.

Moving tips

  • Paid parking runs May 15 to September 15, and the meters are on from 10am to 10pm. Outside that window parking is free, which makes the fall an easy weekend.
  • Poodle Beach has no facilities on the sand. Bring water and shade, and walk north on the boardwalk for food and restrooms.
  • On Thursday, Oct 29, 2026, the city unveils a historical marker for Poodle Beach.
  • Weekdays out of season are quiet and some places shorten their hours, so check before you drive down.
