Child safety
DirectGay and the DG app are for adults. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and for anything that sexualises or puts a child at risk.
Our standards
- Adults only. You must be 18 or older to have an account. Everyone confirms they're 18 or older when they join, and an account that turns out to belong to someone under 18 is closed.
- Never allowed, anywhere on DirectGay: child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, edited or AI-generated images and text; sexualising a minor; grooming, or trying to meet, message or get images from someone under 18; sextortion; trafficking; and sharing, asking for or pointing to any of it elsewhere.
- Members can't post photos in the DG app, the website has no image uploads, and nudity and explicit content break the house rules for everyone.
How to report
- In the DG app: Report is on every profile, message, message request and group message. Choose May be under 18, or the closest reason and a note. You can block the person at the same time. You → Safety log shows where your report stands.
- On the website: Report is on every thread and reply. Or contact us and choose “A safety worry”: you don't need an account.
- If a child is in danger right now, call 911 (or your local emergency number). In the US you can also report to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. Elsewhere, INHOPE lists the hotline for your country.
What we do
- A moderator reads every report, and reports about a minor or child abuse are reviewed before anything else.
- Content that breaks these standards is removed and the account is banned. We keep what's needed as evidence, out of public view, for as long as the law requires.
- We report apparent child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires, and we cooperate with law enforcement. Police can reach us through Contact us (choose “Legal or law enforcement”).
- We follow the child safety laws that apply to us, and review these standards as the service changes.
Contact
Questions about these standards, or a child safety concern that isn't urgent: contact us. A person reads every message.
